We awoke in San Gimignano to a bountyful breakfast buffet and a promising day of sunshine. Because we arrived in the dark, we couldn't take in the setting of this medieval, walled city on the hill. But in the morning, before the arrival of the tour busses, we were blessed with empty cobblestone streets and the chance to quietly discover the early morning clouds hanging on the vineyards surrounding this little hamlet. I wish the photos could show the beauty. It was like a fairy tale.
