From gondolas to donkeys

Since we sailed from Venice, we have visited 4 different ports and each were unique. Bari, Italy was ancient and chaotic with tiny cobblestone streets and motor scooters. Corfu was like a playground for the rich with its fur and jewelry shops and ocean vistas.

Yesterday we visited both Santorini and Mykonos. Our highlight was the donkey ride up to the city of Fira on the hill top from the cruise port. There are no roads, just the donkey path and a skyride type lift. Those donkeys love runniing uphill to terrorize the tourists. The white and pastel colored dome type homes are beautiful against that deep blue water of the Med.

Today we have arrived in the port of Athens. We meet our hired driver and guide at 9 am for a tour of the city and the Acropolis. I'm very sure there are gyros, Greek wine and ouzo in our future. I smuggled the wine on the ship last night. Opa!
